Symptoms of FEP

What are the SYMPTOMS of First Episode Psychosis?

The symptoms of First Episode Psychosis can vary from person to person, symptoms often include:

Hallucinations

Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, or feeling things that others do not. Most often, this includes hearing voices that aren't really there.

Delusions

Strong beliefs that aren't based in reality. You might think people are spying on you, out to harm you, or trying to control your thoughts.

Confused Thinking

Trouble focusing, strange speech patterns, or racing thoughts. You may jump between topics or find it hard to stay on track.

The symptoms of psychosis make it harder or impossible for a person to know what is real, to think clearly, to communicate, relate to others, and to feel emotions. These symptoms, and others, may mark the beginning of a serious medical or psychiatric disorder.

Psychoses can be treated, and the sooner treatment begins, the better the outcome will be.
